Michigan Mile Lures 71 Nominations Handicap Stars ► In 0,000 Stake Tom Fool, Crafty Admiral, Hill Gail, Royal Vale and Oil Capitol in July 25 Race DETROIT RACE COURSE, Livonia, Mich., June 20. — A record-smashing nomination list of 71 horses, including two former Kentucky Derby winners and most of the glistening names among the nations .handicap runners, was announced today by the Detroit Race Course for the 0,000-added Michigan Mile to be run on July 25. Calumet Farms Hill Gail and J. J. Amiels Count Turf are the former Derby winners who have been nominated for the race which has a purse twice as large as any offered in Michigan heretofore. The allowance stakes conditions make it for three-year-olds and upward at eight furlongs with actual starters to be named through the entry box on July 24 The nominating fee was 5, and starters will pay 00 additional. High among the stars nominated is Tom Fool, Greentree Stables pride, who appears to be a good bet to become the nations handicap champion of 1953. Right with him in reputation, however, are such as j Crafty Admiral, Hall of Fame, Oil Capitol, Big Stretch, Royal Vale and many others. Money Broker Named Three-year-olds, who must compete against older horses but who will receive a I pull in the weights, include such as Black Racer, Van Crosby, Money Broker and Truly Fair n. | On the nominating roll is virtually every famous stable name in the United States.
