Orleans Improvement Program Well Under Way Instafl More Seats in Grandstand; Terraces Also Being Enlarged NEW ORLEANS, La., June 20.— Substantial and important improvements and enlargements will give the historic old Fair Grounds race track here the newest look it has worn since the City Park stand was moved over many years ago, and since E. R. Bradley built the magnificent clubhouse, which was enlarged last year. Last winters season met with so much success that within a few days after its close, vast work was begun on enlarging the main grandstand and the clubhouse and installation of new arid much larger betting facilities. More than 1,000 additional seats will be made available to grandstand patrons, with a like number of additional spectators to be accommodated on enlarged terraces in front of the stand. An immense new mezzanine for the betting convience of grandstand patrons is being built under the extension of the grandstand, which now reaches the administration building. Terraces are being built in .front of the clubhouse and another porch, lower than] the veranda in front of the glass-enclosed porch, is being constructed. Parking space for several hundred more cars hase been provided inside the grounds. It is estimated the additions will handle crowds such as attended last years running of the 0,000 New Orleans Handicap. The work, which is about half completed, will be turned over by the contractors by September 15 at the latest, according to Gar Moore, who is director of public relations and general manager.
