! Sextet to Travel Mile, Three-Sixteenths Today Court Shannon, Square Dancer, Crosslock Vie at ThistleDown By J. R. BATTY Staff Correspondent THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 14. — Although hazardous under footing is in prospect for Wednesday because of rainy weather the past few days, six trainers decided their charges are fit and ready to go one mile and three-sixteenths-and so the management will present as the headliner on the card of eight races, the Northern Ohio Series No. 3. The complete series embraces* five contests and gradually is extended in distance and increased in purse value. Posted as -the seventh, race, ior a ,200 purse, this route event attracted Montaera, Court Shannon, Suits nPants, Square Dancer, Daddys Punkin and Crosslock. A handicap affair, Court Shannon, owned by M. J. Marks, is top weighted of the group under 115 pounds. Next according to weight assignment, is Crosslock who totes 112 pounds and is the property of the partnership of Miresell and Butler. Court Shannon appeared in the No. 2 version of the Northern Ohio Series on June 4 and finished second to Solar Bid at the end of one mile and a furlong. This was his only local outing. Prior to this meeting Court Shannon campaigned at Ascot Park and scored a stunning victory by nosing out Aunt Annie in a test of one and a sixteenth miles. Another commendable effort was turned in by this five-year-old gelded son of Shannon EL — Court Manners when finishing third to the good sprinter, Speak Free. Crosslock and Square Dancer appeared under silks on Saturday traversing going similar to that which will face them tomorrow and the latter ended up best of the two and second to Airtroop. Crosslock gained the show some five lengths farther back. Square Dancer, who toted 108 pounds in this encounter, turned in an exceptionally game effort when missing by a half length to Airtroop when going only a sixteenth mile less than requested in tomorrow.
