CONTY BAY, unhurried when outrun early, responded to brisk urging to take command inside the stretch and gradually drew clear. WIGWAM raced OCLIROCK into defeat to retain a slight advantage at the furlong marker, weakened when challenged by the winner, but held on willingly enough to prevail over SOUR NOTET The latter was unable to improve his position when called upon for his best effort. SICKLES SOUND, far back early, lacked the necessary rally OCLIROCK, much used setting the early pace, had little left. MIDWEST was outrun. PLUS FOURS raced forwardly for three furlongs, then weakened. COMETS GLOW dropped from contention immediately after the start. PREFER-DAN showed nothing. BIG MARK stumbled leaving the gate and unseated his rider. Scratched— 512812 Rush Prince, 117. Overweight— Wigwam, 1 pound; Big Mark, 1. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Jacobs; bred by J. M. Schiff. IN GATE— 5:12. OFF AT 5:12 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. SOME VAMP, a sharp factor from the beginning, assumed a slight lead nearing the three-furlong marker, drifted in slightly leaving the final turn, but continued on gamely when straightened and, in a long drive, outlasted CEDAR JUNGLE. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of CEDAR JUNGLE for alleged interference at the head of the stretch was not allowed. CEDAR JUNGLE went to the front at once, relinquished command to ihe winner after five furlongs, remained next the inner rail for the drive and, though bearing out slightly during the late stages, held on tenaciously in a good effort. RICO MAMZEL, slow to attain best stride, came to the inside for the drive, but under stern punishment, was not good enough. LOT-A-FILLY had no apparent excuse. FRIPPERTY was unable to keep up. RUSH ALONG was always outrun. Overweight— Lot-A-Filly, 1 pound; Fripperty, 3. Corrected weight— Rico Mamzel, 114. Attendance, 19,807; Totol Mutuel Pool, ,639,337? ~~
