LITTLE CAPTAIN was under slight restraint within striking distance to the stretch, then came strongly on the inside to catch BY GONE DAYS near the end and bested him narrowly in the drive. BY GONE DAYS, always close up, forged to the front entering the last * furlong and held on well. CAJUN QUEEN was never too far removed and finished steadily. OLD -FRANK was going fairly well at the end. OUR GIFT had some early speed. MORSE FLASH tired. WOOD RUN was never dangerous. OFF AT 2:331 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good for all but COMPASS BOX. Won "ridden out; second and third driving. YELLMANTOWN raced close up on the outside of theaerly leaders for half the trip, then forged to the front to open a good lead, but was hustled along to the end. IRISH FLARE broke well but was unable to keep up, then came strongly through the stretch and was gaining. BLUE AWARD was outrun to the stretch, but was going strongly at the finish. SEPPIE was always fairly well up. EDUCT and NEW STREAM had early speed. COMPASS BOX went in the air at the start and almost unseated her rider. Overweight— Blue Award, 21 pounds; Compass Box, 3|. FAUROYAL was outrun to the stretch, then came to the inside to move up strongly in company with SPRINGBACK in the last sixteenth and best the latter narrowly in the drive. SPRINGBACK v/as in difficulty around the far turn, but also came strongly through the last sixteenth and barely missed. CAMPING OUT headed the* field at midstretch, but was in the . deeper going and was unable to last. SPEEDETTE moved up to challenge in the stretch but faltered in the final drive. CHALLCOTE was outrun to the stretch, then came fast on the outside in the last furlong to wear down GORGEOUS MISS and win going . away. The latter had something removed catching BLACK POPPY in the last furlong and had little left at the end. BLACK POPPY opened up a rather lengthy advantage nearing the stretch turn, but was not good enough. MR. BOOTS propped at the start and was away poorly. LADY JOKER had some early speed. PRINCETONIAN was in close quarters while racing on the inside on the far turn and was required to ease, then came to the outside in the stretch to close up fast near the end and to win going away. FIRST SHANNON moved between horses in the last sixteenth and finished with good courage. FLYING RECORD was sent into a good early lead and held on gamely in the final test. SWIVEL HIPS was well up ail the way in a creditable effort. LAST WORD loomed up on the inside entering the final fifty yards. WATCH IT GROW weakened in the stretch. HUGO YOU GO was badly outrun. MILK BARON went to the front soon after the start to open up a good lead and held on with determination in the stretch drive. KING CHARLES trailed to the stretch but finished well. KAYS CHILDREN weakened after making a mild move Hearing the stretch turn. CLOUDY DAY failed to be a serious threat. EDENITE had early speed. Scratched— 505881 Auroch, 117.
