BOBTAG took command in the first quarter and, although sent into a long lead thereafter, had something in reserve with which to stand off the stretch challenge of MIGHTY TOM. The latter moved up on the outside in the stretch, but was unable to catch the leader, although racing well to the finish. SMUGSY WUGSY raced very wide down the backstretch, but took third place in the stretch and was taken in hand in the last twenty yards. CHILDERS finished fairly well. TEN LIES and DOG CIRCUS had some early speed. The other were outpaced. Overweight— Mighty Tom, 2j pounds; Smugsy Wugsy, 2; Childers, 1. Run on Main Course. HASTY FREEDOMS improved his position gradually after going five furlongs and, finishing strongly on the outside of QUICK SON, bested the latter in the drive. QUICK SON moved to a short lead after entering the stretch and held on well. TATTENHAM was sent to the front after going a quarter and, used up from his early efforts, had little left. LUCKY JONNIE made up some ground. THIRD LADY and SHOW ME TOO had some early speed.
