Pomona Course to Install Aluminum Goose-Neck Rail POMONA, Calif., April 30.— Installation of an aluminum inner rail, patterned precisely after that in use at Hollywood Park, at the Pomona half-miler was announced here today by C. B. Afflerbaugh, president-manager of the Los Angeles County Fair. The project, involving the expenditure of 0,000, will be undertaken as soon as the spring training program of Hollywood Park thoroughbreds now quartered here has been concluded in mid-May. Pomonas racing dates this year extend for 14 days, starting September 12 and running through September 27. Tony Hansen, track superintendent at Hollywood Park, is working in close cooperation with Afflerbaugh in an advisory capacity oh the new project. Hollywood Park has made available its dies for casting the lightweight aluminum and the three inch gooseneck pipes which will support the rail. A total of nearly 3,500 feet of especially processed aluminum, flanged and shaped by the die, will be installed. The gooseneck support pipes will be placed 10 feet apart on the straight-away and eight feet apart on the turns. Q 1 i
