I I TWENTY GRANDS 1931 DEBUT Scheduled to Start With Stablemate, Surf Board, in Wood Memorial at Jamaica Today. NEW YORK, N. Y., May 1.— Eight are named for the running of the Wood Memorial, this first of the important specials of the New York season, that is confined to the three-year-olds. It has an added money value of 0,000, and is over the mile and seventy yards distance. Of those named over night the most notable entry comes from the Greentree Stable, with both Twenty Grand and Surf Board carded to start, and Surf Board, by reason of his achievements is to take up the top weight of 123 pounds. Twenty Grand, his stablemate, is in under 120 pounds, and it is agreed he is a better colt. The son of St. Germans has been training magnificently for James Rowe, at Belmont, since his arrival from winter quarters, and a half in :46* yesterday morning, was a speed test that was decidedly satisfactory. Surf Board has proven himself under silks, and his recent victory in the Kings County Handicap, over older horses, left no doubt of his entire fitness. Since that performance he has worked well, and the pair will have a strong public following at post time. The supplementary attraction is the Colorado Stakes, for two-year-olds, and several promising youngsters are carded to start. The fields for both of these features follow : WOOD MEMORIAL. Horse. Wt.
