JAMAICA TURF NOTES ? e 1 NEW YORK. N. Y., May 1. Starter Cassidy stated that the Waite starting barrier would be used for schooling purposes in the mile and a sixteenth chute at Belmont Park today. Horsemen were advised that they could turn out horses for the summer season at Stromboli Farm, Jobstown, N. J. Roy Waldon is acting as the agent on the Metropolitan track. Under Rule 194, J. A. Coburn filed a protest against the ruling of the stewards, setting back Friar Bacon for shortage of weight. The protest was not allowed, as there was no protest filed with the stewards to disqualify the horse. Pat Dwyer shipped Dr. Freeland to Pim-lico to fulfill his engagement in the Dixie Stakes. Boojum made his first appearance on the track since his arrival. He was sent a half in :49. Word was received from Lexington, Ky., that H. J. Thompson, with three carloads of horses, the property of E. R. Bradley, would arrive at Belmont Park on or about May 5. Trainer T. J. Healey of the C. V. Whitney stable, stated that Equipoise, which is at Pimlico in charge of Fred Hopkins, would be given a public trial of one mile between races at that point next Wednesday.
