I AURORA TURF NOTES f $. , AURORA, 111., May 1. B. A. Jones, with Dr. Lovell, returned from the Jones Stock Farm at Parnell, Mo., where several horses were fired by Dr. Lovell. A. E. Brown, trainer of the Valley Lake Stable, was injured Wed--1 while galloping Cyruben. The animal stumbled and fell on Brown, inflicting a sprained ankle. E. McCuan, former regular at Aurora, decided not to ship to the Chicago district and is resting his stable at Fairmount. He intends campaigning at Bainbridge this spring. Harry Morrissey and Eddie Thomas, his chief assistant, were arrivals from Tanforan Wednesday night. The promising apprentice H. Berry, under contract to J. A. Hall, was an arrival. R. L. Rogers has taken first call on the lads services. George Swain, an assistant in the secre* tarys office, was an arrival from New Orleans via motor. J. J. Greely unloaded nine horses this morning, coming from Lexington. B. Mc-Intire came from the same place with three. R. L. Watts, trainer of the Mrs. E. Dene-mark stable, unloaded sixteen at the Aurora plant this morning. The shipment came from Louisville. J. M. Reed unloaded Chatter Box and Butter Beans, while J. P. Headley sent four from Lexington, which will race for the Paradise Stock Farm Stable. The horses of the San Mateo Stock Farm, which were very successful at the Tanforan meeting, are stabled at Washington Park. Morpheus, a three-year-old, which was one of the greatest improvements of the winter season, is the star of the string. C. B. Irwin, the Wyoming turfman, who had intended campaigning his string at Aurora, changed his plans and shipped his horses to Kansas City. The two-year-old list at Aurora is the largest in the history of the track and there is little doubt but that the juvenile races each day will be well filled. Oer sixty riders were registered with tha superintendent of the jockey room this morning. Of the lot twenty-three are apprentice boys. A. A. Baroni, whose horses will be seen in action on Chicago tracks later in the season, purchased the sprinter Arcadian Flag from the Greencroft Stable before leaving California. Baroni has a formidable string ready for summer racing. Jockey Lafoy Cunningham, who led the riders at both Agua Caliente and Tanforan, accompanied his contract employer, C. E. Davison, to Aurora. Finnic grabbed a quarter while being galloped this morning and was excused from starting in the fifth race today. Chianti, from the stable of Mrs. R. Pollard, which was ill upon arriving from Miami, has shown but little improvement. Jockey H. Roble, who rode with considerable success in the West during the winter, checked in this morning. C. T. McDowell has wired from Lexington requesting seven stalls. The following jockeys were granted licenses this morning: R. Deperini, R. Jones, F. Martin, G. Cimerak, J. Moore, J. Gilbert, E. Groos, A. Rogers, L. Cunningham, M. E. Meyers, W. James, B. Hanford and J. Long-don. Alexander Pantages, one of the best handicap horses that the West has seen in recent years, will race with the best on the Chicago circuit during the coming summer. He will be sent East shortly. His last start was in the Au Revoir Handicap, closing day feature at Tanforan, in which race he easily defeated Plucky Play and other stars.
