DARK SEEKER made a show of the others by sprinting into a commanding lead on the far turn and was under restraint at the end. SOCIETY TALK "held the others safe. FAIREST began slowly. RUSTIC FLIRT raced very wide until straightened out in the stretch, where she bore over to the inside while racing very green. MAZNIATA was only galloping and was eased up after going a quarter. BARRIDO began fast and carried AMELIA along at a rapid pace to the stretch turn, where he shook off opposition and drew away into a commanding lead. AVENGER, away slowly and buffeted about for the first eighth, gained steadily and, coming through next to the rail in the stretch, finished gamely. MY BROOM came wide into the stretch and, wearing down the tiring AMELIA, outgamed her at the end. Scratched— 58274 Snooty, 110; 58157 John Barton, 115. Overweight — Fair Sun, 2 pounds. HACKY H. raced under restraint for the first half mile, was out in the middle of the track from the start, challenged boldly at the eighth post, then tired. MAD CAREER went around the leaders with a rush on the first turn and, taken under restraint on the back stretch rated along with CHATTY until rounding the far turn, where he drew away and hung on well to outlast SISTER ZOE. The latter moved up gamely in the final eighth, then tired after getting up CHATTY was bothered at the sixteenth post, where SISTER ZOE came over. HILLSBOROUGH, carried wide on the first turn, was bumped by JOLLY KING on the back stretch. HOLD HARD was in close quarters on the inside in the early staees. Scratched— 58243 Dunstan, 105. DARK MAGNET was taken in hand soon after the start and, rated behind PEACH BASKET, moved up fast when called on on the far turn and drew away entering the stretch, but had to be tidden out to withstand SCUTTLE. The latter, in hand in the first half mile, went around on the outside entering the stretch •and was gradually wearing down the winner.
