BRADLEY PAIR ONE-TWO Black Helen and Bloodroot Dominate Coaching Club Oaks. Filly Fixture Attracts Another Big - Crowd to Belmont Park Good Gamble Finishes Third. . NEW YORK, N. Y., June 1. Col. Edward R. Bradley made the boast a few days ago that in the running of the Coaching Club American Oaks his silks would be first, second and third. The genial colonel was almost right when Black Helen was first and Bloodroot followed her over the line. The only one that did not make good the boast was Bird Flower, and she was well back in the big field. . Black Helen is unbeaten this year and was winner of the Florida Derby. After the good filly had scored, Colonel Bradley, following the tradition of the race, proudly led the daughter of Black Toney and La Troienne back to the scales. The race carried a net value of ,750 to the winner and as it was run Bloodroot could probably have won but the declaration was Black Helen. Only half a length back of the Bradley fillies, which finished closely lapped, came A. G. Vander- lbilts Good Gamble, recent winner of the A.corn Stakes. The filly race attracted another big crowd to beautiful Belmont Park. There was a drop 9 in temperature that made wraps comfortable, but conditions were enjoyable and the sport was excellent. GOOD GAMBLE DELAYS START. There was some delay in the Coaching Club American Oaks and Good Gamble was sent to the outside of the stalls for the start of the long gallop of a mile and three furlongs. The start was a good, one with Mock Turtle first to show in front She was attended by Black Helen and Good Gamble with Vicaress following closely. .Then before a furlong had been run Vicaress took the command and Horn had her under restraint as she was showing the way. Mock Turtle, Black Helen and Aperitif had all headed Good Gamble, but that order was close and then came Bloodroot, racing next on the inner rail. - As Vicaress continued to set the pace, Wright moved up steadily with Bloodroot until he had the Bradley miss at the throat latch of the Woodward filly. Black Helen had dropped back slightly as her stable-mate took up the pacemaking and before the stretch was reached Bloodroot went to the front and opened up a lead of a couple of lengths. Good Gamble moved after the Bradley filly to take second place as Vicaress tired and Meade had Black Helen next to the rail when the stretch was reached. SPARKLING FINISH. Through the long straight run Good Gamble hung on with good courage but she could not catch Bloodroot and in the meantime Meade was steadily working his way through "with Black Jlelen. Wright, glanding over, saw it was a stablemate that was closing an him and right in the last few strides he did not punish Bloodroot and Black Helen dropped her nose down in I front. Good Gamble had run a worthy race to be beaten only a length by the pair and she was two lengths before Judy OGrady, which finished resolutely through the final quarter.
