I 1 OMAHA TURF NOTES 0 : : e Heavy rain throughout the night and early Saturday morning put the track in the worst condition that it has been in in some time and prevented the schooling of horses. Jockey "Tod" Leischman came in from Tanforan and will ride throughout the Ak- Sar-Ben meeting. There are more than 100 thoroughbreds which raced over the .California track during . the past winter now on the grounds. The latest to arrive is the stable of J. Mc-Bride which includes Cloiwald, Thoughtful arid Manteca. Because of his victory on the opening day, I. E. Burnetts useful plater, Jack Murphy, was ineligible for the sixth, race Friday. Secretary E. W. Bury expressed the opinion that larger fields would be in evidence as soon" as the" track improves. E. J. Haskell, Nebraska owner, got In with the veteran plater, Red Comet. Wilbur Brown brought Star Note and Time Will Tell. Dr. R. C. Gilmore registered Billy Golden, Hilado, Norma Clark, Sun Flo and Millie R. Chairman Schellberg of the Nebraska Racing Commission announced that the "handle" on. openig day was satisfactory, but failed to divulge the amount wagered. Jockey L. McDermott arrived with the second consignment of the W. C. Goodloe sta- " ble, and will do the major portion of the, riding for that establishment. "Tex" Wilson, veteran reinsman, was granted a. license to ride on his arrival from Tanforan where he displayed, good form in the saddle. J. Hi Tate assumed charge of his horses which have been on the grounds for more than a week. Tate remained in Fort Worth following the close of the Texas spring season. W. T. Hess of Falls City, Neb., registered Junior Seth, Big Moment and Panout. Just Mrs., Augusta and Warrior Lyons are the racers that will perform in the silks of f W. C. Chaffin during the Ak-Sar-Ben meeting. Jockey J. Redding checked in in time for the inauguration Of the meeting. Ogee, Sultry, Song Hit and Anapola are the runners that E. E. Kellar .brought in from Tanforan. Apprentice A. Grays services are much in demand since the lad scored a double on the inaugural days program. Starter Jack Hodgins and his crew will work overtime with some of the bad actors which they are not familiar with.
