BUTCH, never far from contention, closed with a rush and would have been the winner in a few more strides: TALVORES displayed good speed throughout and held on with good courage. The latter, close up from the start, held on gamely under hard urging. GOOD MARY S encountered interference after going a quarter, responded well when clear and was going well at the end. PRINCE BALLOT improved his position steadily. PETRINA B. and LADY TORCHILLA quit. The latter lost ground on the stretch turn, but finished strongly and was wearing down the winner. TUPPER BOY raced in the worst part of the track and showed a good effort. BILL ANDY had ho excuses.
