CONTRIBUTE, hustled into a forward position early,- saved ground until reaching the stretch, swung to the outside and, rallying strongly in the last eighth, wore down ROMOLA to get up in the last strides. ROMOLA opened up a clear lead early, saved ground all the way and held on determinedly under a severe drive. CATSWEEP challenged strongly midway of the turn, but tired during the last quarter mile. CARELESS KNIGHT closed stoutly after lacking speed in the first half mile. CUDGELDRU finished gamely on the inside. DREAM KISS was held safe. COLORED ARTIST began tiring after a half mile. JUSTA JANE worked her way up on the outside to reach a forward position entering the stretch, responded to punishment and closed fast to get up in the concluding strides. VANISHED sprinted into a long early lead, was inclined to bear out rounding the turn, was straightened out when reaching the stretch, but tired steadily in the last eighth. CARDAMON raced in the first flight all the way and held on strongly for the final issue. BACKGROUND was under strong urging throughout and saved ground all the way. ARDAWN closed a good cap from a slow beginning. MERRY BUD raced evenly. TIMON was outrun. FINI showed early speed, as did STIRRED UP. BLUE GUM broke very slowly. CARISBROOKE assumed command shortly after the start, met strong bids from BAYDROP and came out slowly noaring the end when kept under severe urging. BAYDROP forced a steady pace from the beginning and continued gamely after making repeated bids. JACK PATCHES worked his way up slowly on the outside and was going stoutly at the end. GENTLE KNIGHT saved ground for the entire trip. THE MINER made a bold move midway of the turn, but was not good enough in the final test. INVESTOR raced well. WAR HASTE was held safe. QUICKLY moved into an easy load when she beat the start several lengths, saved ground all the way and had speed in reserve at the end. EASTER HATTER was under strong pressure from the beginning, j came through between his company when reaching the stretch and finished full of run. MISS MONOA raced well placed early, swung to the outside in the final drive and closed gamely. SAM WORTHY saved much ground all the way and showed a good effort. HASTINOLA, clear of interference at the first turn when a Jam occurred, was not rushed when SHOELESS JOE was sent into the lead, followed close up until reaching the stretch, then moving to the front, readily drew out smartly during the stretch run. CHRYSMUTE lost ground when bothered at the first turn, saved ground when reaching the back stretch and, racing strongly, held on well for the final issue. ABBATORO, forced wide at the first turn, followed on the outside of the leaders, but could not threaten. TRICKYS SON, forced very wide at the first turn, settled in his stride and closed full of run. SHOELESS JOE was made much use of and had nothing left for the final test. GRAINGER was badly blocked and forced to be taken up at the first turn. Overweight Chrysmute, 1 pounds. COUNT BRUNO sprinted into an easy lead at once, was rated along until reaching the stretch, begaa tiring and had to be stoutly ridden to stall off ACAJOU. The latter raced into contention when leaving the back stretch, continued strongly and was wearing the winner down fast approaching the finish. CUDGELDOE raced in the first flight all the way and held on well when the real test came. MOMIJI made up ground slowly in the last quarter mile while on the inside. ROCHE DOR was squeezed back leaving the back stretch. FRIGID FROSTY showed a dull effort. FIRE REEL dropped back after three-quarters, then passed tiring horses in the late stages. BEBEST broke in stride, was rated in front after reaching the back stretch, met a stout effort from DENCLAIRE midway of the turn, then drew out slowly when shaken up. DENCLAIRE moved up strongly midway of the final turn, but was held safe during the stretch run. DODIODO, placed on the outside for the start, worked his way into a forward position, but could not threaten the first two. VISIONARY HOUR raced prominently, but was not good enough. SKIPSEA could not gain during the late stages. LUGANO broke slowly and was never a factor. GRAND UNION was done after three-quarters. Scratched 27150 Polyp, 110.
