CROSBY STRING FOR SEATTLE Radio and Movie Star to Campaign Horses at Longacres Hoffman Reserves Stables. SEATTLE, Wash., June 10. Bing Crosby seeks relief from arduous duties diversion in the Northwest this summer watching his thoroughbreds in action at Longacres. Joseph Gottstein, president of the Washington Jockey Club, today received advice from Crosby to the effect that he will ship his string of six from the Ventura fair grounds, where they are training, on June 20. They come by express to Longacres accompanied by the gallopers of Walter H. Hoffman, Jr., prominent California owner and breeder. Albert Johnson, once Americas leading jockey, trains the Crosby string. He has a stake contender in Khayyam, three-year-old which Crosby believes will prove a formidable factor in distance affairs. Others to carry Crosby silks are Aunt Kitty, Lady Lakeside and Maybeth, two-year-olds, and Lindun, four. The Hoffman horses, which race as Rancho Casitas R. C. Stable were a surprise addition to the local reservation list. Announcement was made they would be turned out for the summer. However, they apparently suffered no ill effects from winter campaigning and trainer M. Lowe recommended their shipment to Seattle. v Lloyd Pan, winner of the 0,000 California Championship and the California Derby, wherein he bested Plucky Jack, is the star member of the string coming in with the Crosby horses. He races for Mrs. Lois Pan-tages but trains with the Hoffman stable. Hoffman has Rodney Pan, a long-striding Crystal Pennant three-year-old as his principal stake candidate. Crystal Pennant, which Hoffman bought in New York for 0,000 and won the 00,000 Coffroth in the red and cream silks, made good in the stud at Rancho Casitas, and in addition to Rodney Pan, will be represented at Longacres by Rose Crystal, the three-year-olds Royal Crystal and Real Class, and the juveniles Rarebit Crystal and Crystal Shiek. Trans-bird, veteran gelding, completes the consignment. Lloyd Pan and Rodney Pan furnish a strong California combination in the ,000 added Washington Derby to be run August 15. I .
