SPRECKELS FILLY TRIUMPHS t Pegotty Ann Scores in Juvenile Handicap at Rockingham, f Light Weight Factor in Success of Phara-mond II. Miss Gallant Gay Accounts for Handicap. SALEM, N. H., June 10. John D. Spreck-els III.s Pegotty Ann, a daughter of Phara-nxmd II. Twilo, triumphed over a band of the best two-year-olds in the New England sector in winning the Juvenile Handicap, ,500 added event which featured the midweek sport at Rockingham Park. The Spreckels racer, under the feather weight of 102 pounds and ridden by C. Thornton, set all the pace and was a half length clear of W. W. Adams Conservative at the end of the journey. The latter turned in a good effort under the heavy burden of 120 pounds. Haines kept her closest to the winner from the start and she finished gamely but was unable to make the heavy weight concession asked of her. She beat Greentrees Drowsy half a length for the place award. Cary T. Graysons Yodel finished fourth and in many ways his race was the most impressive of all. He was practically left at the post, trailed the others far .down the back stretch and appeared hopelessly beaten on the turn. However, the Strolling Player colt was running over horses in the drive for home. Pegotty Ann began fastest of the field with Conservative right after her, and Sun Capture third. About a length separated the leading pair on the back stretch. On the turn Sun Capture tired, and Drowsy, which had been well placed, moved into third position. They went in this order around the turn, where Yodel began to gain ground and came from far back into contention Pegotty Ann and Conservative were neck and neck in the stretch. Haines did his best to drive the Adams filly into the lead in the last seventy yards, but the weight was too much for her. Drowsy fipished handily in the stretch to take third. With the exception of Sun Capture, which quit after a half, the others were never seriously in the race. The winners time was 1:00. She paid 0.60 for tickets straight. J. Stewart Johnsons Sun Teatime, ridden by C. Kamar, closed very fast to win the six furlongs event that was second on the program, beating Good Omen, from Miss L. C. Whites barn, by a half length. The heavily-backed Aegis, under the colors of the Ascot Stable, ran third, another length back, and Parva Stella, which set the early pace, was fourth in the .field of eight that accepted after Jim John was scratched.
