At present Mr. Lehmann is vacationing at his extensive breeding establishment at Fox Lake near Columbia Bay. In his palatial stable he houses the ten mares which he breeds every season and their foals. It is said that the Lehmann farm is one of the outstanding among those m this region, consisting of 2,000 acres. While Mr. Lehmann conducts a breeding farm he does not own a sire, depending upon the matings with various stock horses in Kentucky. One of the most important news items related Wednesday was given out by racing secretary Julius G. Reeder, who related that he received the nomination of Rushaway for the impending 5;b00 added Chicago Derby. The acquisition of Rushaways nomination adds more importance to the classic which will have its decision Saturday, June 20. In his letter to Reeder, Tarn stated that he would ship the colt from Detroit about June 16 with three others that he plans to campaign on the Chicago tracks. Mrs. E. E. Keller and W. Krenning made a change in trainers Wednesday when they appointed G. Gosnell to replace C. L. Helm to condition their horses. There were five horses turned over to Gosnell, which consisted of Pun, Sultry, Blue Bird, Anapola and Ogee. The latter is the only performer racing under the colors of Krenning, the others racing for Mrs. Keller. Jockey Glenn Smith was notified Tuesday of the illness of his wife, who is at Detroit, and he departed immediately for the Motor City. Smith plans to return here next week, providing conditions permit. Jockey Lester Balaski, who is under call to the Northway Stable of Norman Church, lost no time getting into action. He fulfilled several engagements Wednesday. Balaski arrived here Tuesday from New York. Ray Slomer is booking Balaskis engagements. Included in the shipment of horses which Mrs. S. Orr sent to Aurora were Orinoco, Unkie Tom, Doris B., Metaurus and Cornelia Powell. Tearout, winner of the Latonia Derby last year, is returning to the scene of his first major victory, having been shipping to the Milldale course from Hawthorne to fill his engagement in the impending Enquirer Handicap. Before leaving Hawthorne, Tearout worked sensationally. Racing secretary Julius G. Reeder distributed the third issue of condition book3 to. the horsemen Wednesday. The latest pamphlet embraces conditions for eight days, which include June 12 to June 20, inclusive.
