AQUEDUCT TURF NOTES John E. Cowdin, of the Queens Counts Jockey Club, conferred here with the layers in reference to the extension of the club house floor, which, under the new arrangement, proved inadequate to handle the crowds. Jockey Carl Hanford was a visitor during the afternoon. He is en route to Suffolb Downs for that meeting: Victor P. Noyes arrived from Greenspring Valley with three horses owned by Mrs. Francis P. Garvin and Manton B. Metcalt Jr. Awnings were placed on the windows on-the Long Island Railroad side of the betting rings to overcome the glare which seriously interfered with layers and players. The Metropolitan Jockey Club operating Jamaica added a new sprinkling cart to the track equipment to help the track which is burning up, due to the lack of rain. Jockey J. Wagner underwent an operation at Lawrence. Mass., Wednesday. His leg was set, according to word received by John Gaver, of the Greentree Stable forces. Al Austin, former trainer and later an official at Agua Caliente, was an arrival and will remain for some time. Trainer Cliff Porter will ship the Southland Stable to Arlington Park for that meeting but will return for Saratoga.
