SLUMP broke fast and settled into his stride quickly, was forced wide at the turn and, under severe urging, wore down the leaders in the final drive. OVERLAP, a forward factor all the way, made a determined bid under urging and finished with good courage. NEBRASKA CITY, well up from the start, was placed under severe pressure in the stretch run and held on well. SIR RANDOLPH, a forward factor, finished well under urging. DONALD DUCK broke well, but was outrun and made up ground under urging. FRASCATI showed a good effort all the way. FLAGSTICK raced greenly and swerved to the inside. Scratched 26836 Gold Cross, 114. AMAGANSETT showed speed on the flat, jumped well, but was steered in front of SANTI QUARANTI repeatedly in the runninc, tried to run out at the final fence, was brought back in and finished in hand. SANTI QUARANTI raced in nearest pursuit of the pace from the start, moved up when called upon, but was blocked repeatedly and at the end was not persevered with. DOCK LIGHT was outrun all the way and had jio mishaps in the running. ABENAKI jumped well, but was outrun throughout. THIRD RACE 5-8 MILE. Miss-Star, Sept. 25, 1922 :57 2 107. DANGER POINT, in nearest pursuit of the pace. from the start, was placed under pressure in the final quarter mile, made up ground steadily, but could not menace the winner. MAESPUR reared after being cut off at the break and finished well. MIQUELON . raced greenly, although saving ground at the turn. WTon driving; second and third the same. IRISH TED improved his position steadily on the inside, saved much ground rounding the stretch turn and, under pressure through the final eighth, wore down the leaders and drew away. DOWN UNDER was rushed into early contention, came around the leaders rounding the stretch turn and finished with good courage after being bumped by VEZ at the eighth post. VEZ Svas rushed into command after the break, showed early speed, saved ground, but was bearing out through the final eighth when he tired. REDLEY was shuffled back in the early running, responded to pressure and finished well. FLUTON broke well, but was bumped shortly after the start and was shuffled back. FAIR DEAL, fractious at the post, showed good speed all the way. JOYRIDE closed ground gamely through the stretch. MARCABALA had early speed and quit. WASTER was outrun. Won driving; second and third the same. GEAN CANACH was kept forwardly from the start, was blocked rounding the far turn, improved his position on the inside, but came to the outside of the leaders for the final sixteenth and finished with a rush. GLEEMAN .showed speed from the start under restraint while saving ground, withstood determined opposition from EXCITE in the stretch run and held on gamely. EXCITE, a forward factor from the start, moved up with determination in the stretch run, but hung in the final drive. PULLMAN was in close quarters and early trouble, improved his position on the inside and was blocked in the final sixteenth. HE DID raced close to the pace from the start, responded to urging in the stretch run, but hung in the final sixteenth. TRANSPORTER raced forwardly from the start, improved his position under pressure rounding the stretch turn on the outside of the leaders, but hung at the end. TEUFEL was close up early, but dropped back rounding the far turn and then made up ground slowly in the stretch run. BIEN JOLI was placed under pressure for the stretch run, but could not improve his position. BRIGHT PLUMAGE had no mishaps in the running. Scratched 26750CIocks, 114; 26646 Seabiscuit, 114. VIGILANCE moved up on the outside of the leaders rounding the far turn, was carried wide when PIHHXUS bore out, carried NARISE with him and then finished gamely to the end. EVENING HOUR-made a determined bid under pressuie in the stretch run and finished well. PHRIXUS was rushed into command after the start, showed speed under restraint, but bore out sharply entering the stretch, carrying NARISE with him. VALE OF TEARS improved her position through the stretch and closed gamely. EMIR finished well. NARISE quit after forcing the early pace. QUEEN ELIZABETH was outrun to the stretch.
