1 FOREIGN TURF NOTES I Q .$ Up to the end of May, Gordon Richards was Englands leading rider of the year, with fifty-two victories to his credit. Eight of these triumphs were consecutive. The French time record for one mile and three-eighths was broken at Longchamps Sunday, May 24, when Corida ran the distance in 2:16.7. The Australian jockey, "Togo" Johnstone, who was the leading rider in France last year, dropped to third place recently, being headed by Brigeland and Dupuit. J. E. Wideners three-year-old filly Spring-star, which won a maiden race at St. Cloud. France, recently, was bred by her owner. She is a daughter of Asterus, by Teddy Spring, by Ksar Nature, by Meddler Correction, by the American Himyar.
