BILL FARNSWORTH SCORES Threatens Six and a Half -Furlongs Record at Aqueduct. Runs Distance in 1:17 During Rainstorm Storm Bursts After Big Crowd Arrives at Track. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 15 Bill Farns-worth, which races under the silks of Mrs. Marian Cassidy, was winner of the best offering at Aqueduct today when he ran six and a half furlongs in 1:17, just a fifth of a second slower than the track record, to take the Helmet Handicap. He was followed over the line by Pullman from the Sage Stable and W.. R. Coes Pompeys Pillar, was a distant third. Scotch Bun was fourth and the consistent Jesting last of the small field. This race was run during a rainstorm and- that had something to do with the result for Bill Farnsworth was plainly sprawling in the run through the stretch to win by less than a length. Jesting was unable to show anything and was outrun all the way. The rain did not come until after the crowd had arrived and it was a" big one, for Monday racing. The sport was first class. In this featured handicap Pompeys Pillar caused some delay at the post, but the start was a good one and Pompeys Pillar was first to show from the stalls. Scotch Bun went after him and then came Pullman with Bill Farnsworth, beating Jesting away. But this was soon changed when Bill Farnsworth was rushed up by Hanford until he was going stride for stride with Pompeys Pillar and Pullman ran into some trouble and was crowded back slightly. Before the stretch was reached Bill Farnsworth had Pompeys Pillar beaten and there Pullman swung to the outside to give chase. He was making up ground until he sprawled and the son of Crack Brigade was over the line the winner by three quarters of a length. Pullman had beaten the tired Pompeys Pillar four lengths and Scotch Bun followed at his heels to lead Jesting by half a length. Tutticurio, from the Brandon Stable, which had shown a flash of speed in a recent outing, proved the best of the cheap band that met in the sixth race. To score he ran down Mrs. W.- E. Martins Sheknows, and third went to E. Coats Dame Quickly, with Soldiers Dream, the favorite, taking fourth. I. J. Collins Elwawa, making his first appearance since last September, was winner of the six and a half furlongs dash for cheap ones that was the fifth. He led home Mrs.. L.vH; Nimkoffs Armstrong and Clien-telte, from the Southland Stable, saved third from Red Badge,- the favorite of the company, v
