RACE FOR NEBRASKA-BREDS Omaha Management Stages Contest for Youngsters Foaled in State M. Bartons Cledis Wins. OMAHA, Neb., June . 15 Nebraska-bred two-year-olds had their first chance to earn a purse when they competed in the initial race at Ak-Sar-Ben field Monday afternoon. The youngsters, although rather small in size, put on an interesting exhibition, and Cledis, from the stable of M. Barton, was the winner, with Rumdum finishing second and Bay Haven third. The Ak-Sar-Ben management is to be commended for giving young horses bred in the state a chance to earn purse money, and the two-year-old Nebraska-bred events may be a weekly feature in the future. Apprentice Charlie Shultz, apparently wishing to follow in the footsteps of F. Chojnacki, his chief rival for jockey honors at the meeting, put up a poor ride on Blind Sage in the second race. Chojnacki performed rather dully for the two closing days of last week and Shultz, seemingly not wishing to be outdone, rode Blind Sage, the favorite, all over the track to have him beaten. At that the gelding managed to finish second, Mareta coming down in front. Apprentice Chojnacki managed to ride a winner in the third race when he piloted Well Dressed to success. Well Dressed led all the way to beat Shops Cha.nce.
