DISCOURSE, in close quarters in the run down the back stretch, came to the outside in the stretch and, closing with a rush, was along to wear down the loader inside the last seventy yards, increasing his advantage in the closing strides. BALAATH, on the outside all the way, moved up gamely in the last quarter mile and finished with good energy. SQUEAKER had speed from the start, was much used in racing with SURE HOUR and faltered in the closing drive. SHANSI, unable to gain clear sailing, raced to the outside to gain racing room and finished with good energy. SURE HOUR was hard ridden to get to the front and was unable to shake off SQUEAKER and faltered in the final three-sixteenths. MANY MOONS, well placed early, quit after nearing the stretch. BARON LYNN followed in closest pursuit of the pace, was roused repeatedly when reaching the stretch and, wearing down SPRINGS HERE, drew out fast in the last few strides. SPRINGS HERE displayed good speed, drew away into a commanding advantage, but surrendered the command to the winner in the closing test. MARFEU, well placed all the way, was unable to improve his position when called upon. HIGH HASTE was never prominent, racing in dull fashion throughout. DERRICK MAN, badly outrun early, made up some ground through the stretch. LITTLE AUDREY was never prominent. GLOW WORM was outrun throughout. Overweight High Haste, 3 pounds. THIRD RACE 1 1-1G MILES. SUN APOLLO moved up steadily after straightening out for the run down the back stretch, continued to work his way forward and, takin? command when ST. MORITZ began tiring, had enough left to stave off the closing challenge of MY PURCHASE. The latter, under steadying restraint until nearing the stretch, closed with a rush in the last three-sixteenths. EL PUMA worked his way up gradually after going a half mile while racing on the outside, was sent to the inside after rounding the far turn and held on with good energy in the closing drive. BUSTER BOY was well placed, but was unable to improve his position under punishment. TRICKLING was well placed and, racing restrained early, came to the outside for the closing issue, but was unable to improve her position in the final test. STONE MARTIN tired. EARLY SETTLER moved up fast after rounding the far turn, assumed a slight lead in the stretch, but was unable to keep pace with the winner in the closing test. SAY WHEN, well placed all the way, dropped back slightly nearing the stretch, made another bid to reach the leader in the stretch and was unable to improve his position through the closing eighth. SQUARE displayed good speed for the first three-eighths, then tired thereafter. JESTING LADY displayed a brief burst of early speed. ME O MY was unable to reach the leaders. MOUNTAINY MAN was prominently placed the entire way, but was unable to keep pace in the closing test when the winner challenged. FAIRSICKLE trailed for three-quarters, then closed with good energy in the final three sixteenths. GLYNSON was unable to reach the leaders. ONRUSH showed good speed, drew clear in the run down the back stretch, but faltered in the closing drive. FUR-FIBER raced well for a half mile, then dropped back steadily thereafter. COL. The latter, outrun early, improved her position gradually on the outside and came with good energy through the stretch run. MISS DIGNITY began moving up in the last three-eighths and closed with good courage. UNDULATE had good speed in paccmaking, faltering in the last three-sixteenths. OPHELIA, in closest attendance of the pace tor the first five-eighths, faltered in the last five sixteenths. MARY STENSON showed speed for the first half mile, flattening out badly thereafter.
