OMAHA FAVORITES MAKE GOOD First Three Public Choices Earn Purses Simmons Ride on Zanny Factor in Victory. OMAHA, Neb., June 18. Thursday was favorites day at Ak-Sar-Ben field when the first three public choices got home in front. The public was made happy when Prince Peacock scooted home in advance of a large band of Nebraska-breds in the first race, was further elated when Angelita won the two-year-old event which came second on the card, and became jubilant when Zanny, short-priced choice, defeated a fair band of sprinters in the third race. The race won by Zanny resulted in one of the best finishes of the meeting when three horses came to the end noses apart. Man-teca was second, and Great Meadows got third money. Manteca slipped through between horses on the back stretch to set the pace, but jockey Herb Simmons, on Zanny, did some hustling riding in the stretch to outfinish Root on Manteca. Great Meadows was going fastest at the end.
