1 FOREIGN TURF NOTES ? $ s A total of 25,000,000 was wagered in the pari-mutuels in France during the year 1935. Fred Cato, noted trainer in South Africa for a number of years, has returned to England and will open a public stable. Cato was born in London and rode with success on the flat and over jumps until increasing weight caused his retirement. He led the trainers in Cape Town from 1926 to 1930. When Precipitation was disqualified after finishing first in the Royal Standard Stakes at Manchester June 3, Multissimo was awarded the race and Marshall Fields Black Domino moved into second place. The English Jockey Club stewards recently announced the withdrawal of the license of jockey Arthur Wragg. He is the youngest of three talented brothers and his suspension under English rules means that while his disqualification lasts he may not enter, run, train or ride a horse in a race, ride in trials or enter any race track without permission; of the stewards. When Games won the Beaufort Handicap Plate at Manchester June 4 he established a new track record of :57 for the distance. Sir Thomas Putnam, well known breeder and owner of race horses, died June 2 at the age of seventy-four.
