DETROIT WORKS FOR STAKES Chicago Derby and Moslem Temple Stakes Candidates Prepare for Their Engagements Saturday. DETROIT, Mich., June 18 Despite the muddy condition of the track, several brilliant and useful trials by eligibles for the ,000 added Moslem Temple Stakes, Detroits Saturday feature, and the Chicago Derby, were recorded this morning. Hal Price Headleys Hollyrood and Sparta, winner and runner-up in the Detroit Derby, which left tonight for Chicago, breezed a mile each. Sparta worked alone and was timed the distance in 1:44. Hollyrood had Whopper as a companion and negotiated the mile in 1:13. Charles T. Fishers Manager Mike and Matas Brother, which arrived here from Latonia, leading candidates for Saturdays juvenile feature, breezed five furlongs in 1:02. Running as a team, they went the opening quarter in :23, three-eighths in :38 and the half mile in :48. It was late in the morning before the Fisher and Headley charges were on the track, and they worked after the "dogs" had been removed. While the "dogs" were up and the course was very muddy, Planetoid and Little Upset went a half mile each. Little Upset was timed the distance in :50 and Planetoid in :52. Smart Agnes breezed three furlongs in :39.
