SKY CLOUD WINS IN A ROMP Makes Show of Opponents in Opening- Race at Riverside Park Ideal Weather. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June IS Making a show of his opponents, Sky Cloud, from the Gillespie Land and Irrigation Companys Stable, was an easy winner of the initial race, which "was for maiden colts and geldings and decided over four and one-half furlongs. Running the distance in :55, the unsexed son of Iron Crown Molly Cloud led home J. W. Rays Tap Time by three lengths, with the latter being easily best of the others, finishing twelve lengths ahead of Tip Inn at the end of the journey. The winner began fast and, after opening up a five-length lead in the first quarter mile, was taken under restraint and at no time of the journey was ever in danger. Tap Time, after moving into second position on the lower turn, gradually drew away from the others and held that position safe throughout. Tip Inn, the one to finish third, stumbled shortly after the start and dropped back, but saved much ground by racing, on the inside all the way. The winner was a prohibitive odds-on favorite in the wagering, and paid only .1 to 2. Ideal weather conditions prevailed for Thursdays racing, and while the entire card was turned over to the cheaper grade, interesting sport resulted and formful racing was the order of the day. Chicredo made it two in a row for the favorites when, in a driving finish, she outlasted Tricky Miss to win by a neck. The latter easily held second place safe from Fair Romance. After a long delay at the post, caused by the unruly actions of Spanish Citizen, the field was away in good alignment, with Chicredo the first to show, and sent into a short lead. Tricky Miss, which had started from outside the gate, moved up fast and as the field swung into the lower turn, Tricky Miss was showing the way by two lengths, with Chicredo second, and Fair Romance third. In the stretch the winner had taken command, but Tricky Miss was holding on gamely and in the drive that resulted Chicredo was over the finishing line a neck in the van. The others never did figure in the running.
