ROCKINGHAM PARK FIGURES Salem Management Distributed Total Prizes of 60,455. Gallant Gay Defeats Roman Soldier in Rockingham Park Handicap and Leads Money Winners. Rockingham Parks first 1936 meeting was a .big success compared with last years sessions, and the Salem track management, during the eighteen days of racing from May I 25 to June 13, distributed 60,455 in prizes, a daily average of ,914.17. W. A. Adams carried off the largest slice of the purse money when his horses won 0,725. E. Sachsenmaier, owner of the brilliant Roman Soldier, was the second largest money winning owner with ,440, and A. G. Vanderbilt was third with ,025. Gallant Gay, the young horse which defeated Roman Soldier in the Rockingham Park Handicap, most valuable race of the meeting, topped his formidable rival in money winnings also, earning 0,250 to Roman Soldiers ,440. Johnny Longden, with a record of seventeen winning mounts, headed the riders list with Lyman Brusie, leading trainer, with nine winning horses.
