Haughton; bred by Audley Farm. WENT TO POST 2:16. AT POST 1 minute. Start good and slow. Won handily; second and third driving. HI-VIC, away in the first flight, responded to hard urging in the last five-sixteenths, moved up on the outside and, wearing down AMHURST in the stretch, was going away at the finish. AMHURST took command at once, drew away into a good lead and, despite holding on willingly, was unable to stave off the closing bid of the winner. TEDDY BEAU, hard ridden to keep up, was gaining on the leaders at the end. COBE, away slowly, began moving up on the inside leaving the back stretch and closed a big gap. FAIR ALBION, slow to leave the stalls and badly outrun, came with a rush through the stretch and was running over his field when too late. SATURN well placed and hard ridden, faltered after going three-eighths. MOLASSES BOB came with a belated bid in the last sixteenth after being unable to enter into early contention. EASTPORT tired. BALAPIN was not hurried during the early stages, began moving up on the outside after rounding the - far turn, came stoutly through the stretch and won as if much the best. SANDBROOM displayed good speed in pacemaking and held on willingly to the close, though no match for the winner. OLD VETERAN was a forward factor all the way, but was unable to keep pace with the two leaders in the stretch drive. BABWRACK, outrun early, came with a belated rush through the stretch. INTRODUCTORY was going gamely at the close after being outrun early. JESSIE V. L. began shortening strides after going the opening three-eighths. DEAN SWIFT had speed from the start, was hard ridden to gain a slight advantage nearing the far turn, surrendered the lead to EPIBEAU and responded gamely to brisk handling, regained command and outlasted EPIBEAU at the end. The latter displayed speed from the start, gained a slight lead and, hard ridden, was unable to maintain his advantage. PHARATIME lacked speed in the run down the back stretch, but came in determined fashion through the stretch run. BACON was well placed throughout and held on well to the close, though unable to make up any ground in the closing drive. TUTTICURIO was unable to enter into serious contention. NILUS, well back early, was going gamely through the stretch when too late. MOISSON was far back throughout. TAKUS and FAKE both faltered badly after displaying brief early speed. ANOTHERONE took command at once, withstood determined opposition from BRISTLE and held him safe to the end. BRISTLE moved up stoutly, responded gamely to hard urging, but was unable to overtake the winner MOTH BALL was unable to keep pace early, came through on the inside after rounding the far turn and, saving ground in the stretch, came stoutly in the final drive. MIXWELL, well placed, was unable to reach the leaders under punishment. FAGOT, far back early, closed a big gap. BEAU THOR, restrained early, loomed up threateningly nearing the stretch turn, only to retire in the last three-sixteenths. SURE HOUR was never a factor. Overweight Fagot, 4 pounds. The latter, restrained early, moved up stoutly on the outside and, though making a bold effort to overtake the winner, was not good enough. MISS CAREFUL, outrun early, moved up in the last five-sixteenths and closed determinedly in the stretch, but was unable to reach the first two. MOUNTAINY MAN loomed up stputly on the outside approaching the stretch, but was unable to keep pace in the closing drive. EASY SAILING had early speed, but tired in the last three-eighths. DISCOURSE, far back for the first five-eighths, moved up fast when called upon and closed willingly in the drive. BLACK TOREADOR was kept within striking distance of the pace and, though closing gamely, was no match for the first two. POMPEYS SQUAW, well placed, lost considerable ground racing wide nearing the far turn and tired in the last five-sixteenths. OFFICE BOY, under steadying restraint for the first half, began moving up on the outside rounding the far turn, moved up stoutly in the stretch and, taking command, drew clear in the last eighth. FESTOON, reserved in pursuit of the pace, took command when called upon, though unable to keep pace in the closing test. POCKET PIECE went to the front in the run to the first turn and, steadied along in front, held on willingly when overtaken. MISS JONES, well placed, was unable to improve her position under urging. SHANSI trailed for the most of the trip, but unleashed a burst of speed throughout the final eighth when too late. The others were outrun. Scratched 28198 My Kin, 106. J . AMERICAN PRINCE outran his field to the first turn, was rated along in front after opening up a good lead and dominated the running throughout. SEAWICK, in closest pursuit of the winner throughout, fought it out determinedly and outlasted DUTCH UNCLE at the end. The latter moved up in the last three-eighths, lost considerable ground at the stretch turn, but came again at the end and just failed to be up for the place. WOULD DARE was unable to reach the leaders at any stage, racing far back throughout. PEEDEEQUE never could threaten. ZEMBLA was outrun throughout. Overweight American Prince, 1 pound.
