HAMILTON INAUGURAL TODAY A. R. Loudon Memorial Handicap Main Event of Opening Program of Seven-Day Meeting. HAMILTON, Ont., June 26. Racing returns to the Hamilton Jockey Club with the opening of the 1936 season tomorrow, and seldom has a spring meeting aroused such enthusiasm as the seven-day session now at hand. The keen and widespread interest with which it has been awaited has engendered optimism on every side. Much of the success which. has attended the spring meetings in Ontario is expected and the session may prove the most successful in many years. Interest in this section is running high and the continuance of good racing weather is all that is needed to bring out a record gathering to this beautiful and spacious course to witness the inaugural program. Trainers are finding that their horses are responding to their efforts better than ever before and nothing but praise is heard from horsemen in regard to the perfect condition of the track. The opening day program is headlined with the running of the A. R. Loudon Memorial Handicap, a ,000 added affair at six and one-half furlongs, which brings together eight of the best handicap horses performing in Canada. Sablin, the E. F. Seagram Display gelding, carries top weight of 119 pounds in this feature, with Abbatoro, from the Parkwood Stable, next in line with 114 pounds, equal weight with Hastinola, from the Mrs. R. Fairbanks barn. The weights scale down to .106 pounds, the amount which Jack Patches will shoulder. Winged Flight, Unencumbered, Trey and Bit of Sorrow are others in the field from which a first-class contest should result. The supporting feature is the Brantford Handicap, a Canadian-bred affair at six and one-half furlongs for a purse of ,000. Top weight in this will be carried by H. C. Hatchs Monsweep, brilliant winner of the Kings Plate, which will tote 113 pounds. The "Daily Double" will be on the first and third races, and the "One-Two" on the final race each day. The first race will be called to the post at 2:30 p. m daylight savings time. Two special trains will leave the Toronto Union Station direct to the jockey club. -
