TAP 1 TIME EARNS FIRST PURSE J Ray Youngster Graduates From Maiden Ranks in Opening Race at Riverside Park. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 26. Maiden two-year-olds furnished the competition in the first race, in which a capacity field of twelve paraded postward, and this served for Tap Time, from the stable of J. W. Ray, to earn the first purse of his career. At the end of the four and one-half furlongs he was galloping along six lengths in the van of P. Wrights Scholar Girl, which easily held G. W. Ellis Iron Sands safe for second place. The favored Swing Corners began slowly and far back for the first quarter, finished fast on the outside in the last quarter and with a little better racing luck might have been a more serious contender. Ladies Day at Riverside Park attracted a large turnout of the fair sex and when the horses paraded to the post for the initial race the stands were packed. The weather was ideal for the sport, which was thor oughly enjoyed by the crowd. Claiming- races made up the entire program, but the fields were well matched and competition keen.
