Won driving; second and third the same. GRIDDLE CAKE raced wide throughout, made up much ground to take the lead in the opening quarter, was steadied on the turn and, holding on well under strong handling in the final quarter, outfinished SORCERY. The latter, a strong factor from the start, saved ground where possible and also held on with good courage. FREE ADVICE entered contention with a rush after reaching the stretch and fought it out gamely to the end. DEVILISH NICK held on gamely. SISTER JEAN was in close quarters on the stretch turn, was slow to recover and rallied mildly near the end. RUCKUS, buffeted about early, took command under strong urging in the stretch, but tired badly in the final eighth. PRETTY PEG had early speed. Overweight Sister Jean, 1 pound. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE. HIP BOOTS, suited by the going and forced to race wide throughout, improved its position fast after reaching the turn, easily wore down the leaders when straight in the stretch and, holding on well, held TIME BALL safe. The latter, also losing much ground, improved its position gradually from a slow start, entered contention in the final quarter and held on with determination to the end. CARBINES COMET, away slowly, moved up slightly on the outside in the opening quarter, dropped back on the turn, but came again when racing on the inside in the stretch. MOVING CLOUDS began well, was under energetic riding after three-eighths and tired in the stretch. ALBANE tired badly after showing good speed to the stretch. GREY PAL began slowly. MODESTO gave way badly after a half mile and pulled up sore. BENNY B. quit. FARQUA PASS eave way suddenly after showing speed to the stretch. AILEEN C, much the best and beginning fast, was under stout restraint for three-eighths, came through on the inside when racing to the lead on the stretch turn, opened up a wide advantage before reaching the final eighth and easily retained it thereafter. JEU DE BAR raced wide, bettered his position gradually and closed resolutely under enly mild urging. WATCHERUN, under a steadying hold throughout, held on well and wore down JESSIE D. M. in the late stages. The latter, receiving a hustling ride and raced very wide early, had speed, but" gave way steadily after reaching the last three-sixteenths. OSWEGO PRINCESS faltered in the stretch. QUICK lacked speed and was never a factor. FLIGHT OF GOLD showed nothing. Overweight Oswego Princess, 2 pounds. Corrected weight Ailecn C, 115. The latter, badly outrun for a half mile, came through on the inside when closing with determination and improved its speed. 1NDIANTOWN raced wide throughout and, steadied for a half mile, swerved when shaken up entering the stretch, but rallied when his rider again steadied him in the late stages. DROMBO, in close quarters early, failed to rally when clear on the turn, came to the outside in the stretch and, holding on well, outfinished TRACTABLE at the end. The latter, away fast and rushed into a long lead, remained in wide command to the final eighth, where he tired badly. LADINO began sluggishly but responded to strong hand riding in the stretch and was strongest of all in the closing strides.. CAPTAIN JOY was held safe throughout. AUKAI, much the best, easily overtook VOLTA MAID before reaching the final half mile, was mildly shaken up on the stretch turn and, placed to light pressure in the final eighth, probably had little left. VOLTA MAID, quick to begin and well rated, readily submitted to the winner, but continued gamely to the final eighth, where she tired, but managed to stall off JUSTA SHEIK. The latter, away fast but unable to keep up, closed well in a good performance. UNLAWFUL had no mishaps. RED ROD could not reach contention and faltered badly in the last half mile. GENEVA CROSS, fractious at the post where she was placed on the outside, began slowly, sharply cut off MISS MOO on the first turn, raced to the lead on the outside approaching the far turn and, shaken up entering the stretch, continued well to withstand the challenge of LIGHT BREEZE. The latter, receiving a timid ride and taken back approaching the far turn, began to move up after reaching the final quarter, where he was in the worst going and finished in resolute fashion. HOPTOIT, well rated, tired when the final test came. MISS MOO, cut off early and raced wide, could not reach the leaders and tired badly in the stretch. CAPTAIN LOGAN quit.
