t LAUREL PARK TURF NOTES f $ s After fulfilling his engagement on Sweet Desire and Brannon at Laurel, on Tuesday, jockey Raymond Workman departed for Narragansett Park to ride Jerome H. Louch-hiems Pompoon in the New England Futurity. Permission was granted by the stewards for the waiving of the apprentice allowance on Poppyman In the second race Tuesday. Jockey Johnny Gilbert arrived from Keeneland and reported to J. W. Healy. J. J. Greely shipped the good two-year-old; Burning Star to Kentucky to be turned out until next spring. J. W. Healy was an arrival at Pimlico with a draft of the Mrs. J. H. Whitney horses. The horses, including Miss Merriment, which was transferred to Bennlng, near Washington, D. C, came from Keeneland Park. The yearlings and other horses purchased by G. R. Bryson during the sales at Lexington, Ky are expected at Timonium, subsidiary plant of the Maryland Jockey Club. The schooling list at Laurel was augmented by the addition of Marson and Idle Lady. There are twenty-four receiving barrier education here at present. Jockey Ira Hanford, who was suspended on October 15 at Jamaica for twelve days, will return to the saddle at Laurel on Friday. Hanford has been here for several days and has been keeping in condition by galloping horses daily. Edward J. Brennan, an official of the Maryland Jockey Club, came over from Pimlico and spent much time with horsemen arranging for stall accommodations at the Hilltop plant. J. H. Stotler, head trainer of the A. G. Vanderbilt stable, returned from Mount demons, Mich., where he spent a short vacation. According to information reaching here the public address system for describing races will be installed for the coming meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club.
