LADY DEDLOCK AT GOOD ODDS I Easily Best in .Navy Day Claiming Purse at River Downs. Illcena In Runner-Up Position Racing at Cincinnati Course Marked by Two Dead Heats for Show Money. CINCINNATI, Ohio, Oct 27. The second i dead heat of the afternoon at the River Downs meeting came with the Navy Day Claiming Purse, the fourth, and first of two j principal attractions, when Oddesa Farms ; Oddesa Boy and H. Ragans Alice Highland were so closely lapped for third honors that the picture failed to separate them. Mrs. i Bessie Franzheim furnished the winner when j Lady Dedlock reached the end of the six . furlongs distance two and onerhalf lengths before Ridge Brook Stables Hicena. The lat- : ter led the lapped pair by a length and one- i half for second. Six better-grade plater juveniles started, with Alice Highland taking command at i once and Wowo, the second choice, in closest pursuit Oddesa Boy, the favorite, was the last in motion and trailed the field to the : far turn. Gerald Glcason was forced to take the winner to the outside at the stretch turn i and, with long, sweeping strides, she drove down on the outside to subdue Hicena and Wowo after they had disposed of Alice Highland. SLIGHT INTERFERENCE. During the final sixteenth the Franzheim filly increased her advantage and Gleason had her in hand at the end. Oddesa Boy met slight Interference when Fowler attempted to .get him through on the inside in the stretch and but for this probably would have been a stronger factor at the close. After " relinquishing the lead, Wowo quit badly and Toneys Girl was always far back. Lady Dedlock ran the distance in 1:17 and paid 2.60 for straight After a morning of cold and cloudy weather the sun came out at noon and aided in making conditions the most pleasant of the week.
