KENTUCKY WRITERS ORGANIZE Election of Officers to Take Place in Churchill Downs Clubhouse on May 7. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 6. Permanent organization of the Kentucky Turf Writers Association and election of the first year officers will be effected at a luncheon by Col. Matt J. Winn in the clubhouse at Churchill Downs on May 7. All of the turf writers will be guests of the Keeneland Association at a dinner on April 16. The temporary set-up of the new organization was formed at a recent meeting at Lexington. Charter memberships in the association will be limited to twenty. Representatives of the Daily Racing Form and turf writers from Louisville, Cincinnati, Lexington and Evansville will be eligible. Colonel Winn, H. P. Headley, president of Keeneland, and James C. Ellis, head of Dade Park, Iave promised whole-hearted support to the organization, the purpose of which is to uphold the highest standards of journalism in handling the news concerning the thoroughbred horse and racing. Temporary officers are Ben Weaver, Louisville, president; Bob Saxton, Cincinnati, vice-president, and Tom Underwood, Lexington, secretary and treasurer.
