WARLAINE was roused rounding the far turn, responded but could not menace the leaders at the end. BENTAUR had no mishaps in the running. TIMBER LADY was rushed into a commanding lead, but faltered badly under urging. STORY TIME was on the outside of the leaders rounding the stretch turn, then quit under pressure in the final eighth. SWIFT FLASH closed ground from a slow start. SQUARE showed an even effort throughout. WISE BUN began slowly and made up ground on the inside. GAY CREST, a forward factor and in near pursuit of the early pace, saved much ground entering the stretch and held on with good courage. GOODY GOODY was rushed into command rounding the first turn, was steadied along under restraint and then came again in the final few yards. ZEMBLA, from a slow start, made up some ground. CAPT. AROUSED drew away into a long early lead, but faltered badly in the final eighth. JIMMIE CABANISS moved up with a rush on the inside and then hung from his early efforts. BUILDING TRADES dwelt and stumbled at the break, was rushed into contention, but flattened out badly when called upon at the end. EASIEST WAY had no mishaps in the running. HUNTERDON was badly outrun to the stretch turn and made up some ground. HIT AND RUN had no mishaps. CINAR quit badly and was not persevered with when hopelessly beaten.
