NOMINATIONS FOR PREAKNESS Much Interest Displayed in Supplementary Entries for 0,000 Maryland Feature Friday. BALTIMORE, Md., April 13. The national racing spotlight will be directed on the Maryland Jockey Clubs 0,000 added Preak-ness Stakes this week, with the supplementary closing of that event coming up on Friday, April 15. From time to time various experts have hazarded guesses about which thoroughbreds would be named for the big race, but this week owners and trainers of promising three-year-olds not already eligible, after careful comparison of those previously named with their own best charges, will make their decisions. Several estimates on the probable number of supplementary entries can be made. The Kentucky Derby, which closed last February, offers one. There are thirty-four Preakness eligibles in the Derby and sixty-nine in the Derby which are not eligible for the Preakness now, but which may be made so by the supplementary entry provision. On the other hand, there are thirty-nine Preakness eligibles not named for the Derby. The Survivor Stakes at Pimlico five days before the Preakness, with nineteen Preakness eligibles, offers another line. This race shapes up as a Preakness trial and there are twenty three-year-olds eligible for this event which may be regarded as potential Preakness material. All told it appears that the greater value of the Preakness is bound to attract a fair number of added entries. The estimated gross i value of the Pimlico classic is 0,000, which will make it the richest race for three-year-olds in America. RETURN TO FORM. Another angle to the matter is that since nominations to both great races closed, one last July and the other in February, many horses have come back to the races after being turned out for the winter showing sufficient form in training or races to justify being named for the Preakness. Among the top-flight performers and early favorites already in the Preakness are Stagehand, Fighting Fox, Menow, Nedayr, Wise Fox, Sir Raleigh and Redbreast. The complete list of eligibles is: Gallator Germans Madero Jolly Tar Wise Fox Nedayr Fighting Fox Sunsun Foxton Shoulder Arms Anaflame Maetall Cacodemon Battle Jack Bull Whip Galapas Grandever Bigey Spillway Cravat Bull Lea Sir Raleigh Gallant Stroke Arcadian Sir Eagle Yarn Sox Thanksgiving Garry Ted Easy King Pharamond Hollywood Ace Magic Hour Virginia Boy Sizzling L. , Steel Knight Hypocrite Walkaway Lancashire Lucky Omen Dickerville Cattistock Some Count Dauber .
