1 BAY MEADOWS NOTES f 4 Jockey John "Red" Pollard, who sustained a "broken shoulder bone, when thrown from Fair Knightess at Santa Anita, will not return to the saddle until he goes east. His resumption of riding might commence at Pimlico. - Among the many improvements instituted at Tanforan prior to the meeting, which will get under way for twenty-five days beginning April 30, is the remodeling of the saddling paddock. The stalls will be erected in such a manner as to give the public a better view of the horses. The jockeys will weigh in in the same enclosure. This will enable those interested to see the jockeys go through the procedure of weighing, and will be able to check each boys weight as he steps on the scales. This work is going forward under the direction of track superintendent F. Volkman. Lawrence Barker, prominent owner of Los Angeles, sent nine head to the Tanforan course from Santa Anita, where the stock was freshened after the meeting at Arcadia. Trainer F. J. McDonnell was in charge of the horses, which had an uneventful trip from the South. Sahri II. is among the most notable of the string. Julius Reeder, who serves as racing secretary and general manager at Tanforan, returned from Los Angeles, where he went to conduct some business. The preliminary work at Tanforan is going on under the personal direction of Reeder, who is preparing for the meeting at the San Bruno course. L. B. Wickersheim, veteran Californian, checked in with three horses at Tanforan. Wickersheim rested his racers during the winter months at his place at Orange, Calif. The three which he brought here were: Bon Ball, Black Wolf, and Hide Out. S. D. Parker, of Yakima, Wash., who is racing his horses here under the direction of trainer L. G. "Buster" Bedwell, has taken first call on the services of aprentice George Russo. The youngster was the leading rider at Agua Caliente before coming here. Trainer Harry Howard, transferred the Lee Hastings to Tanforan this morning. All stakes to be run at the impending Tanforan meeting, will close one week in advance, except the 5,000 Marchbank Handicap, which close one week in advance,, ex-icap, which closes Saturday, May 7. There are eleven stake offerings on the calendar of fixtures presented by the Tanofran man-1 agement. j I
