MODEL DAME, close up on the inside from the start, headed EMPRESS HILLS after leaving the back stretch and opened up a good lead in the stretch, but barely lasted to win when her rider seemed to become overconfident near the finish. RED CHALK was never far from the pace and, coming fast through the stretch under hard riding, would have won in a few more strides. DISTAR made up ground gamely on thQ inside. EMPRESS HILLS was used up setting the early pace and tired. SISTINA was unable to keep up with the early leaders and raced wide. MORPETH acted badly at the post and was off slowly. MARGIEBELL raced gamely through the stretch, but was no match for the winner. HOME LOAN was never far away and finished fairly well. GRETNA raced evenly. KING ROYALE showed an exceptionally weak effort, dropping many lengths back of the Field soon after the start and makine his move too late, was in close quarters in the stretch. SCOTS GUARD came very fast after leaving the back stretch and, saving ground in the run home, was gaining on the winner. AUXILIARY tired after making the pace.
