SEABISCUIT ON WAY EAST Howard Champion Leaves Tanforan for Pimlico With Sixteen Traveling- Companions. SAN MATEO, Calif., April 21. Seabiscuit is on his way. The Howard champion left Tanforan at 3 p. m. today en route for the East, where his most important engagement will be his meeting with War Admiral in the 00,000 special race at Belmont Park next month. The cars containing the son of Hard Tack and sixteen traveling companions were shifted from Tanforan to the Oakland side of the bay, where they were slated to entrain for the East on the Overland Limited at 8:30 p. m. Quite a gathering of horsemen, photographers and members of the press were present when Seabiscuit was brought from his stall, his legs wrapped in four bandages, and loaded on the car. With the star once safely stowed away, the others were loaded. Aside from Seabiscuit, the Howard horses going East are the good two-year-old Grey Nurse, Chanceview, the good sprinter Exhibit, the imported horses Limpio and Kayak II., the two-year-olds Seabread, Torpedo Lass, and Theresa Gino, as well as Coramine, Godspeed, and two lead ponies. Trainer Smith, of the Howard forces, left the two-year-olds Major Chris and Timber-land behind to run in the ,000 added Bay Meadows Nursery Stakes, which will feature the closing day card. Seabiscuit and his running companions were billed right through to New York over the Union Pacific and Pennsylvania Railroads. This was taken as an indication that Seabiscuit might not go postward in the Dixie Handicap at Pimlico, but might be taken to Belmont to remain until the match race with War Admiral.
