- AURORA TURF NOTES $ Four or five carloads are leaving New Orleans Fair Grounds Thursday, completing the large shipments from that point. Don Fair, who will man the public address system, was an arrival. Fair came in from his home in Omaha, although he served as announcer during the winter meeting at the Fair Grounds. He did the calling here last season and was well received. It was learned Thursday that Eddie Griffin, popular custodian of the jockeys room, is the father of a bouncing baby boy. An eight-pound son was born to Mrs. Griffin in New Orleans on April 7, and Griffin is now receiving congratulations right and left. Mrs. Griffin, the daughter of J. J. Wymer, of New Orleans, surgical physician of the New Orleans Public Service Company, is jubilant beyond words, according to her recent letter to "Daddy" Griffin. A. G. Tarns Wise Fox, Louisiana Derby winner, and Frankie Serembas Fairflax, both candidates for the 2,000 added Illinois Derby on May 28, are in active training here, going through slow gallops at the present time. The new "tote," incidentally the largest board now in existence, will be 100 per cent completed by Sunday, according to the engineers in charge of the installation of the giant electric mutuel betting machine.
