LAST MESSAGES WORKOUT Filly Derby Candidate Shows Most Speed in Morning Trials at Keeneland Park Course. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 21. Last Message, winner of her only start at Keeneland and a candidate for the Kentucky Derby, came through with an impressive workout this morning at the local course when she was sent a mile in 1:44 by trainer Lee ODonnell. Last Message worked in company with Navarre. The filly ran the first quarter in :25, half in :51, three-quarters in 1:17 and the eight furlongs in 1:44. The .trial, the first over eight furlongs, was regarded as rather impressive by ODonnell, who was much satisfied with the manner in which she performed in her first and only start of the meeting. Another hopeful for the Kentucky Derby, Gov. Chandler, was given a brief trial of three-eighths of a mile, which the son of Reigh Count completed in :39, breezing. There was no activity among the candidates for the Ben Ali Handicap, next feature attraction on the Keeneland schedule, but three of the candidates engaged in the headline attraction on Wednesday afternoons program. Crossbow II., a beaten favorite in the three-quarters dash, William Sangrams Broadway and Louise J. Hickmans Arabs Arrow received their tightening in that event.
