CHICAGO RECREATION SURVEY New Volume on Sports in Windy City and Vicinity Covers Every Form of Entertainment. Volume II., compiled by the Chicago Recreation Survey, 1937, is off the press, and to sportsminded folks it is the last word in information, whether they specialize in racing, baseball, basketball, football, boxing, wrestling, polo, bicycling or any sport delected. It is the Alpha and Omega in detailed instruction in how and where to go to enjoy the games or type of recreation most desired. The volume contains page after page of maps showing the location of the racetracks in the vicinity of Chicago; golf clubs, private and public; natatoriums, public and private beaches; legitimate and motion picture theaters; picnic groves; penny arcades; shooting galleries; gun clubs; annual shows; conventions; ice and roller skating rinks; and even cabarets, taxi-dance halls and retail liquor establishments. The book is the most marvelous volume of its kind ever produced. JOINT SPONSORS. The volume is sponsored jointly by the Chicago Recreation Commission and Northwestern University. Arthur J. Todd is chairman of the committee overseeing the work, with William F. Byron, of Northwestern University, as collaborator. Howard L. Vierow is director of the Recreation Commission and the survey was conducted under the auspices of the WPA, NYA and IERC. Daily Racing Form supplied a great part of the statistics on Chicago race tracks, with Winston Parks responsible for the very enlightening article upon the turf and with putting together the racing section of the book.
