1 HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES 2 Jockey C. Critchfield was suspended by the stewards for the remainder of this meeting for using unfair riding tactics in the sixth race Wednesday astride Ancelot. Danny Kearney, trainer of the Mrs. Helen Potter horses, reports that Masked Queen, which was bred to Sun Meadow, foaled a -colt at Beaver Dam Farm, near Middleburg, Va. The youngster is a strapping individual, according to Kearney. Jockey O. Laidley, who is riding in good form, has given first call on his services to W. L. Brann, who is racing a large string on Maryland tracks in charge of Louis J. Schaefer. Emmett Potts, trainer of the Bomar Stable, reported that Billmar suffered an injury to one of his legs here on Monday and that the colt will be out of training until the injury heals. Fred S. Livingston, secretary-treasurer of the Thorncliffe Breeders and Racing Association, operating Thorncliffe Park in Toronto, Canada, arrived from the Dominion to map out plans for the spring meeting with John P. Turner, who will serve as racing secretary. The second edition of the condition book for the meeting at Havre de Grace was released to horsemen by racing secretary Charles J. McLennan early Thursday. The apprentice allowance on Achieve, a starter in the fifth race, was waived. Starter James F. Milton dismissed American Sand and Teddy Weed from the schooling list, while Ancelot and Edwin Booth were added to classes. James Fitzsimmbns, trainer of Wheatley Stables Stormscud, notified officials here that he is sending the colt here to fulfill his engagement in the Chesapeake Stakes Saturday. Jockey Johnny Longden may come to ride the three-year-old son of Hard Tack Blustery. Horsemen, who will race during the twelve-day meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club at Pimlico, are asked to put in their application blanks for badges immediately. Max Hirsch shipped Mrs. Parker Comings three-year-old colt Thanksgiving here from Jamaica for his engagement in the Chesapeake Stakes on Saturday. The colt was on the track here Wednesday morning and worked a mile in 1:41 in preparation for this coming engagement. Jockey J. Kacala, a favorite here a few seasons ago, accepted his first mount of the meeting when he rode Johns Heir in the second race Wednesday. Jockey Kenneth McCombs, after appearing in the paddock to ride Royal Error in the first race, was taken ill suddenly, and Earl Porter was substituted on the Mrs. F. A. Bonsai performer. McCombs suffered an attack of grippe over the week-end and was not suficiently recovered from the illness to fill his engagements. John Davis, well-known racing official, is circulating among the horsemen in Maryland in the interest of the meeting to be staged at Agawam Park, and reports much interest. He has been requested to reserve stalls for R. Robertson, father of jockey Robertson of the Milky Way Farm, who will send Lynx Eye, Bright and Early, Aftermath, Debate, Some Bull, Sun Captor, Lantana, Golden X. and Trebor to the course near Springfield, Mass., for the approaching meeting.
