1 BAY MEADOWS NOTES t $ Jimmie Plat, the jockey, was given a severe shakeup Wednesday morning in a fall while exercising Wing and Wing. However, no bones were broken and there will be no serious after effects of the fall. Basil James, whose sterling work in the saddle at Bay Meadows has won for him much favorable comment, has a deal on to ride The Chief in the Kentucky Derby. The Chief is a stablemate of Stagehand, in the barn of Col. Maxwell Howard. Frank Carreaud has changed his mind regarding shipping his stable of horses east. He had intended to leave on the same day that the C. S. Howard consignment of horses, including Seabiscuit. entrained for New York via Pimlico. Carreauds string will remain on the West Coast. Albert "Spec" Dunne is headed for Kentucky, where he will supervise the making of a race track motion picture to be "shot" during the period that the Kentucky Derby will be in the public eye. During Dunnes absence, O. C. Rush, Jr., will train the horses in the David Butler stable. Dr. J. R. Upton, prominent veterinarian, is an arrival from Los Angeles, where he was confined to his apartment for three weeks with an attack of flu. Upton intends to remain in this region about a week before leaving for Maryland, where he has an extensive practice. Short Notice, handsome son of Flight of Time in the Jobella Stable, maintained by Harry Cohn, motion picture executive, is coming to hand nicely after his period of inactivity. According to trainer D. W. Pearce, Short Notice will be pointed for all the three-year-old stakes decided in California, and while only indulging in short works at present, he will probably engage in several races before leaving Tanforan for Ingle-wood.
