I KEENELAND TURF NOTES o Dutch Flag, two-year-old daughter of Pennant and Java, in the Greentree Stable of Mrs. Helen Hay Whitney, died of intestinal influenza Monday night. The filly has been ailing since she ran at Keeneland during the opening week of the meeting. Conduct, a two-year-bid son of Chicle, accompanied Redbreast here from New York and was turned over to John Gaver to train. As his final stiff preparation for his en-gagament in the Clark Handicap, which will feature Churchill Downs opening program on Saturday, Valdina Farms Eagle Pass worked a mile Tuesday morning In 1:39, handily. The son of Night Flyer, which was vanned to Churchill Downs Tuesday afternoon, reeled off the half mile in :47 and six furlongs in 1:12. The colors of William E. Until legalized racing was repealed in Texas, Wolken was in charge of the concessions at Arlington Downs and Alamo Downs. He will move his family here from Chicago as soon as the schools close for the summer. Tom W. Murphy, former renowned harness reinsman, who purchased Mary T. at Mondays auction, plans on remaining in the Blue Grass until the close of the Keeneland season. Jake Lowenstein, F. P. Letellier, Irvin Kort, Phil Reilly and several other trainers, whose horses are quartered in Louisville, were here for the Monday sales. Tommy Steele, a member of the official family at Tropical Park, was ah arrival from Miami. Steele intends remaining here for the Blue Grass Stakes, and from here, goes to Louisville and then to Wheeling Downs, where he. will act in an official capacity. Jockey Melyin Lewis, who is staging a comeback after a two years absence from the saddle, was ordered to report to John J. Greely, Sr., at Baltimore, Md., and the lad will have the mount on Shandon Farms Burning Star in Saturdays renewal of the Dixie Handicap. Frank Podesta traded the two-year-old Rolls Wind to A. R. Born for the plater Gay-lord and a cash consideration.
