RAMSEY TRAINING BIG STRING Louisville and Miami Turfman Preparing Twenty-Two Horses. Mucho Gusto Heads Stable and Is Eligible for Feature Handicaps at Churchill Downs. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 27. From a conservative beginning some years ago, Kirby Ramsey, Louisville and Miami turfman, has expanded his stable until now he has one of the largest and strongest here awaiting the opening of the Churchill Downs meeting, Saturday, April 30. Besides four two-year-olds and a number of horses of the plater grades, Ramseys string also is well fortified with thoroughbreds of stake quality. In all he is conditioning twenty-two horses. In addition to horses which he trains for his wife and son, Bob Ramsey, he also has racers for R. F. Coppage, of Missouri; W. J. Sprow, of Ohio; A. R. Smith, of Indiana; Howard Stevens, also of Missouri; E. H. Baumgartner, another Ohioan, and E. R. Morris and E. A. Carney of this city. Heading the stable is the good handicap horse, Mucho Gusto, star of winter racing in Florida; Palamede and Bow and Arrow, which also cavort in handicap company, and the good three-year-olds, Birdlea and Feng. The other older horses are Brandon Prince, Indian Head, Live One, Palm Island, Aerial-ist, Mottled, Ann Star, Black Mistress, Fly-ahead ,Formax, Grand Day, White Bread and Dusky Maid. JUVENILES. The two-year-olds are Dolly Whisk, a daughter of Whiskaway and Dolly Seth; Jocks Betsy, a filly by Jock and Glorious Betsy; Mordecai, a gelded son of Busy American and Vendell, and Burning Wood, a son of Morvich and Fire Alarm. The stable is well represented in the feature races on the Churchill Downs spring program. For the Clark Handicap, it has named Mucho Gusto and Palamede, which also are eligible for the Louisville Handicap and the Kentucky Handicap. Mucho Gusto also was nominated for the Churchill Downs Handicap, while Feng is on the list of Kentucky Derby eligibles. The Bashford Manor Stakes attracted Burning Wood, Birdlea is a candidate for the Kentucky Oaks and Dolly Whisk may be a starter in the Debutante Stakes. Ramsey plans to keep the entire stable here for the local meeting, which does not close until Decoration Day.
