1 TANFORAN TURF NOTES I S r : S Delphinium, once one of the countrys stake horses, will be one of the new horses seen in action at Tariforan. The five-year-old son of Blue Larkspur, which has taken the measure of such good ones as Red Rain, Teufel, Memory Book, Grand Slam and others, is training steadily, and Hurst Phil-pot, trainer for Neil S. McCarthy, is confident that hell make a comeback. Grim Reaper, winner of the California Derby, at Bay Meadows, is rapidly develop-k ing into a three-year-old star. He was hooked up with Gleeman in a workout Wednesday morning and just breezed to his older rival, going three-quarters in 1:16. "Lavengro will certainly have his hands full with Grim Reaper," Russell Brown, head of the Tanforan clocking staff, declared. Lavengro gave Grim Reaper sixteen pounds when he lost to him, but according to Brown, Grim Reaper has been making such fine progress that the two colts figure on about even terms now.
