HAWTHORNE STAGING ITS FINAL PROGRAM TODAY - 6and CN y Illinois Owners Juvenile Handicaps Head Attractive Getaway Card Capacity Crowd Predicted for Finale of Major Season of Sport Sportsmans. Park Inaugural Monday H Crack Fields in Features CICERO, 111., Oct. 7. The thirty-day season of the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association will be brought to a close tomorrow with an attractive program headed by a renewal of the Illinois Owners Handicap and the Hawthorne Juvenile Handicap, and if the meeting is not a financial success, it will have been a splendid session from a racing standpoint since Charles Krutckoff, president of the association, and his associates have offered a brand of sport comparable to the high standards set at other Chicago tracks this year. The meeting, which opened on September 5, has been beset with an unusual amount of bad weather, and a number of times had to compete for patronage with the pennant-winning Cubs, both m their quest for the league championship and two days this week when they engaged the Yankees in Worlds Series games at Wrigley Field. If pleasant weather prevails tomorrow, however, Hawthorne may attract a near-capacity crowd of devotees who will be out to get their last glimpse of racing in Illinois on a major track. Monday, Sportsmans Park inaugurates a nineteen-day stand on its half-mile course, and that session will be the last in the state this year. Sportsmans Park closes on October 31. ILLINOIS OWNERS RACE. While the Hawthorne Juvenile Handicap, which drew a field of eight, should be a worth-while spectacle, chief interest in tomorrows card will attach to the Illinois Owners Handicap, in which nine three-year-olds and older thoroughbreds are to meet at a mile and a sixteenth for an added purse of ,500. The Juvenile, as its name implies, is for two-year-olds and will be decided over six and a half furlongs for a similar prize. Of the eight interests represented by the nine horses in the Illinois Owners feature, only one, Clarence E. Davison, has a chance to win it for the second time. He is to be represented by Chance Ray, whose late sta-blemate, Our Count, captured the stake a year ago. That Chance Ray is conceded a royal chance to repeat for Davison, is reflected in the weights as assigned by Julius G. Recder, for he has been given 117 pounds. This figure represents top weight, an impost that also must be shouldered by William Maloneys Her Reigh. Mrs. Emil Denemark has named two for the stake, Chasar, which has been assigned 115 pounds, and Uneasy, which gets in two pounds lighter. It is quite likely that Chance Ray will rule the favorite with either the Denemark entry or Her Reigh the second choice. The rest of the field will come from among Morris Vehons Invincible, F. Robertsons Sly Gal, Blue Ridge Farms Elooto, Mrs. J. Hertz Lace Reigh and Martin and Peters Bonny Clabber. Continued on thirty-second page.
